Travel inspired: Hannah & Sam’s day with a special handmade touch

Having met for the first time at Hannah’s son’s nursery, Hannah and Sam knew they had found something special and six years later with a surprise proposal on Hannah’s birthday, they were engaged.

The Beginning

The new Mr and Mrs Williams met back in 2011 when Sam worked at the nursery where Hannah’s little boy attended. It wasn’t until Taylan; Hannah’s son was almost about to leave nursery that Sam started to show an interest and they began messaging; it all went from there!

The Proposal

Sam popped the question when they were on holiday in Dubai, they were overlooking stunning views of the Palm Jumeirah when he pulled out a beautiful ring that he had hidden in the plane goodie bag.  When Hannah said yes! Sam then gave her a birthday card titled to ‘My Fiancée’ to replace the card to ‘My Girlfriend’ which he had given to her earlier that day. They then tied the knot a year later at Kenwick Park Estate.

The Dress

Hannah said;

“You can try on hundreds of dresses but when you try on the one, you know! I felt like a princess! And Victoria at The Ivory Room in Woodhall Spa are so kind and helpful.

My shoes were from Irregular Choice and were unique! And my mum made them even more special by adding pink and navy flowers.”

The Venue

When Hannah imagined her wedding, she had always imagined it being at the beautiful Kenwick Park, as the grounds are simply stunning and she loved the idea of an outdoor ceremony in the wedding pavilion.”

Hannah liked that the function room as it is light, big and with plenty of space for their 120 guests, and the lounge area where people could relax if they wanted some peace away from the main room.

The wow factor for their guests was the beautiful views and surroundings for the ceremony, and in the 30-degree heat, they still managed to appreciate it.

Their guests loved the fact that they could stay at Kenwick Park, and get the chance to use the amazing spa facilities as part of their stay. This was perfect as they had people coming from not just all over the country but all over the world, so the options for accommodation with both the hotel and lodges were a perfect fit for them.

The Theme

For the wedding, they went for a pale pink and navy sapphire blue colour theme. Hannah loves this colour combination and still thinks it’s stunning to this day, which I’m sure you’ll agree with the beautiful photographs.

They added their personal touch to the finer details of their special day by making their invitations which everyone seemed very impressed with!

The Décor

Both Hannah and Sam love to travel and see different parts of the world, so naturally, they added a touch of their love for travel to their wedding. They found some beautiful items on Etsy which they incorporated into their day; such as atlas heart table confetti, map confetti boxes and petals printed with maps.

Each table had a different name of a place where they had travelled together, with the newly married couple’s table entitled Next stop…Dubrovnik, which is where they enjoyed their mini-moon.

The Food

Hannah’s wedding party enjoyed the following menu;

Canapes

  • Mini beer-battered fish and chips
  • Lincolnshire sausage tartlet with plum chutney
  • Glazed goats cheese tart with tomato and chilli jam

Starters

  • Chicken liver parfait, fruit chutney and toasted brioche
  • King prawn skewers in a marinated Thai sauce with a fresh tomato salsa

Mains

  • 12-hour braised blade of beef, honey glazed parsnips and a red wine sauce
  • Fillet of salmon with a herb crust and beurre blanc
  • Roast potatoes, roasted carrots/parsnips bundle of green beans

Desserts

  • Milk chocolate cheesecake
  • Fruit of the forest meringue with chantilly cream

Those Special Moments

One of Hannah and Sam’s special moments was when Taylan gave a speech. The Magician Tom made lots of funny wow moments when performing his tricks after the ceremony and throughout the meal.

The Bride’s Advice

“Just enjoy it! The planning is so much fun if you don’t let it stress you out. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, you can find loads of inspiration from Etsy and Pinterest. Attend lots of wedding fayres, talk to the exhibitors and only work with people you feel truly comfortable with!

On the day there is nothing you can do to stop it flying by because inevitably it will, just try and take a minute now and again to look around and take in all the beautiful surroundings and people you love having fun!
